Recording Settings Explained

In this article we will go through the settings menu and see how that can be useful.

Navigating to the settings

Click on the Bluedot-icon in your browser extensions, and then on the three dots in the right corner of the window:

You will find the following points:

Video Quality

You can record your video in 720 and 1080p. 720p is recommended for longer meetings, 1080p for the meetings with a lot of screen sharing.

Recording type

You can record both video/audio, audio, or get only the transcript without a recording:

Keep in mind that what you can record can be limited by your subscription-package.

Recording processing - storage

The third point gives you the option to choose where your recording will be stored while it is being processed:

Cloud Processing is best for users who:

  • Have a stable, fast internet connection (office environments, fiber/cable broadband)

  • Work with longer or complex meetings where local hardware might struggle

  • Use lower-end devices (older laptops, limited RAM/CPU) that can't handle heavy local processing

Local Processing is best for users who:

  • Have unstable, slow, or metered internet (remote workers, travelers, people on mobile hotspots)

  • Want lower latency for real-time transcription without round-trips to a server

Auto mode is essentially a smart fallback system — it tries to give you the best of both worlds by dynamically choosing based on current conditions.

Recording notification

You can choose whether or not you want to notify participants about recording.

If you opt for that, the participants will get a Google chat message:

Meeting recording control

You can show or hide the recording control:

This is what it looks like in practice:

a) with meeting control

b) without meeting control

Screen recording control

If you are recording your screen, you can choose whether or not you want the control visible.

If enabled, the screen recording control will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen:

If you disable it, you can still have control over your recording by clicking on the Bluedot-icon in your extensions:

Hope the settings are bit clearer now, but happy to answer all your follow-up questions and suggestions. Thank you for exploring Bluedot! 🔵
