Troubleshooting: Recording Won't Start ("False Start")

Fix a Bluedot false start or launch issue by restarting your browser, checking the extension, reinstalling it, and granting microphone and screen permissions.

If Bluedot won't launch — nothing happens when you try to start a recording, or you get a "False Start" error — try the steps below in order.

1. Restart Your Browser

Browser processes can sometimes interfere with the Bluedot extension. Close and reopen your browser, then try recording again.

2. Verify the Bluedot Extension Installation

Open your browser's extensions page (in Chrome, go to chrome://extensions) and make sure the Bluedot extension is installed and enabled.

3. Reinstall the Bluedot Extension

If the issue persists, or the extension isn't installed at all, remove it and reinstall it:

  • Go to your browser's extensions page and remove the Bluedot extension.

  • Reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store, or search "Bluedot AI Note-taker" in your browser's extension store and click Add to Browser.

4. Check Your Permissions

Bluedot's recording features need access to your:

  • Microphone

  • Screen

Your browser normally asks for these the first time you record.
