How to connect Bluedot with Ashby
Step 1: Navigate to Ashby Integration in Bluedot:
In your Bluedot account, go to the Integrations-page, scroll down and select Ashby:
⚠️ Important:
To set up the integration: you need the Admin/Owner role in Bluedot. (This step doesn't require your own email to match Ashby, it's a one-time workspace connection.)
To sync notes correctly: the email of whoever records the meeting must match their email in Ashby, so Bluedot can identify them as the interviewer. Likewise, whoever clicks Sync to Ashby should be one of the interviewers listed on that Ashby interview event.
Having your calendar connected in Bluedot helps with matching but isn't required.
Step 2: Get your Ashby API key:
In Ashby, go to Admin → Integrations → API Keys, then create a new API key for Bluedot.
Assign your API key a name:
Navigate to API Scopes and enable the following:
apiKeys:read
apiKeys:write
candidates:read
candidates:write
jobs:read
interviews:read
hiringProcessMetadata:read
Copy your API key:
Once your API key is generated, click Copy and Close (or use the copy icon next to the key) to copy it to your clipboard.
⚠️ Important: Save this key somewhere safe right away. Ashby won't show it to you again. If you lose it, you'll need to generate a new one and repeat the setup.
Then insert the same API key in the Bluedot-field prompting you to do so, and click on Connect:
What the Bluedot-Ashby integration looks like in practice
The Bluedot-Ashby integration allows you to:
Automatically match interviews scheduled in Ashby with corresponding meetings and feedback in Bluedot.
Sync interview feedback from meetings (recorded and processed in Bluedot) directly into Ashby.
Scheduling Interviews
If you've set the integration up correctly, as long as your Bluedot email matches your email in Ashby, the integration will function even without Google Calendar being connected.
Next time you're scheduling an interview with a candidate, all you need to do is add yourself (including your colleagues) as the interviewer:
Interview Sync
Once the interview has been successfully recorded with Bluedot, you would need to sync it via the Ashby-button, located right underneath your recording:
After clicking Sync to Ashby, a "Submit notes to Ashby" window will open, showing the candidate's name and interview time. Select your Overall recommendation from the dropdown:
This field is required. Once selected, confirm to send your interview notes directly to the candidate's profile in Ashby.
Once submitted, you'll see a confirmation screen showing your notes have been successfully sent to Ashby.
From here, you can either:
Open in Ashby: jump straight to the candidate's profile to view the synced notes, or
Stay in Bluedot: close the window and continue working in Bluedot
Note: Once feedback has been submitted for an interview, clicking the Sync to Ashby button again will take you straight to this confirmation screen (rather than the submission form), so you can quickly re-open or reference the notes in Ashby. If you delete the feedback directly in Ashby, Bluedot will detect this and let you submit it again from the beginning.
That's it! Your interview notes, along with your overall recommendation, are now attached to the candidate's profile in Ashby, and they will appear in the Your Feedback field.
The feedback will include your Overall Recommendation, the AI generated summary, as well as the link to the recording that you can view on Bluedot.
